Mission Statement

At present the Central Coast's Traditional Latin Mass Community of Saint Junipero Serra is served by Fr. Hughes Beaugrand at the request of the Most Reverend Richard J. Garcia, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Monterey in California.

The Traditional Latin Mass Community of Saint Junipero Serra serves those members of Christ's Faithful who worship in accordance with the traditional Latin Liturgy (or Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite) of the Catholic Church. The Sacred Liturgy is celebrated with the Roman liturgical books of 1962. Not merely its lawfulness, but the continued importance of the traditional Latin Liturgy for the faith and life of the Church, already
affirmed by St. John Paul II in 'Ecclesia Dei,' was further emphasized and guaranteed by Pope Benedict XVI, in 'Summorum Pontificum.'

The traditional Latin Liturgy is centered on God as its core. The Traditional Latin Mass as it has developed through the centuries, under the gentle influence of the Holy Spirit, bears treasures of language, music and ritual that raise our hearts and minds to the presence and action of Almighty God, in order to praise Him and to witness to the Gospel message given to us by Christ
Jesus our Savior.

Message from Fr. Beaugrand

Devotion of First Fridays of the Month. “I promise you, in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the first Friday for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance; they shall not die in my disgrace nor without receiving the sacraments; my divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in that last moment.” Our Lord to Saint Marguerite-Marie Alacoque. All of the devotions we have to the Sacred Heart of Jesus are coming from a little village where a little girl was praying instead of playing with other children. Later, she became nun and was visited by Our Lord who showed her his Heart and said: “Look this heart who loved so much men. As a reward, I only receive ingratitude”. Our Lord said that He wants to be loved by men and whoever will have a special devotion to His Divine Heart will be safe revealing the 12 promises attached to this devotion. The conditions are to receive Holy Communion nine Fridays consecutively without interruption; to honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to obtain the grace of final penance; to offer each communion in reparation of offenses against the Blessed Sacrament. This is what we do in Hollister every Friday of the month, having Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and then we pray the Act of reparation. We continue the following day with the First Saturday. These 2 great devotions were well attended during my childhood and that bring good memories of popular devotion for Our Lord.
